I wasn’t sure hoe to approach this so I used colors out of the tube for consistency in tones. I then drew a series of overlapping lines and basically painted in various shapes. I’m pleased with the overall effect.

Your design has a great balance of large and small forms, awesome work!
Too cute! This one would make a really fun quilt pattern. It’s really distinct, and the transparency effect is well done.
Very impressive. Strong composition.
Did we skip #10? I’ve been ill and am trying to catch up but I’m confused as to where we’re at.
Hi Dawn, we skipped #10. There was an extra week after the second week of Spring break where the course was being re-organized. Hope you’re feeling better soon!
I’m hoping we can post it if we did it anyway. I wasn’t sure what to do last week but I knew I needed to keep going, lol.
Hey all! For this week’s assignment, I used the last example on the module as inspiration and broke it down to its main design elements. It’s been nice to resume making digital art again. To start, I made the base shape a sharp geometric form and the top shape 4 sided. From there, I did the transparency like the example but changed the colors. The colors have the same relationships on the color wheel as the example did. I figured this out by counting the number of colors in between the example’s colors on the wheel to determine their relationship.

Very digital! The excess of it is hypnotizing. Great job!
Wow! This is so cool, I love it!
Very good example to see how transparent elements create the 3-d illusion. Good job

Don’t think I did this assignment right… I tried though my best
I think you did great! I love the energy of it. And the transparency is obvious.
The transparency effect came through well, and I like the soft edges and overall warmth of the piece.
It looks right to me, there are overlapping forms and transparency. I like your color choices too!
Wassily Kandinsky would be very proud of you) But I would still work more on the upper part of the picture plane.
It feels good to be painting again! I’m impressed with my classmates efforts, and hope we all have a safe and healthy rest of our semester.

Your lattice design demonstrates a lot of overlapping and transparency, nice work!
Oh my gosh! Amazing job! I can’t believe how well your project turned out. My project was much simpler. I found this module to be fairly challenging!

I had fun with this one, and challenged myself to a fair number of color blends. It took a lot longer than anticipated, tho. I didn’t use tape for the shape edges, so it’s a bit messy but I still like it.

I just realized why all my colors look familiar. I layered color correcting makeup pastels over bold lipstick colors to get softer lipstick colors in the transparency areas. Yes, I have blue lipstick too. As long as I can relate it to makeup, I think I’m doing pretty good at this color mixing thing. Artistic cross training pays off, lol
Even without tape, your edges look great!
This is by far my favorite because the color transitions seem very smooth. Also I love the circular interpretation instead of the traditional hard edges. Your circles are perfect, I don’t know how you managed that.
I used a compass to make a circle template to trace. I definitely do not freehand circles that well, lol! Thank you.
Wow! Great. Just great Lara. )

I apologize for the sloppiness, I have been pretty sick and had forgotten about this assignment

I defiantly learned I struggle painting a straight line during this project. I went for a more straight forward pattern of rectangles overlapping. My colors are quite bold but I love this combination of colors and how they overlap. They are so vibrant and feel like summer.
This looks great Charity! I really like how bold the colors are honestly. I love seeing how the yellow turns to green when it is placed beneath the blue rectangle. Great job!
I like the different stripe in the center, with the three-way overlap. The whole thing is very bold.
Simple, but I am convinced )
I had a hard time with this assignment. My paints were not cooperating and I was a little confused.
Even so, I think I got it? I Created a design with rectangles and triangles overlapping in several places. It was hard trying to get them the right shades without letting the white of the paper show through.

I did have to mix some colors to get my preferred shades but they aren’t all perfect as I ran out and had to make more.

All comments about my piece can be found in the link! 🙂
The intensity of the color of overlapped fields on upper circles is much higher than on the lower ones. It takes the harmony of whole composition away. But still a good choice of colors.
I chose to use an interlocking quit pattern as my inspiration. I used green, blue and blue-green as the tranparency color. I found this kind of fun to get the transparency color right because it immediately tricked my eyes to see what square was in front of the other. https://drive.google.com/a/alaska.edu/file/d/1MxugpGVDTX7LxkMixBIslXhmZ5eIPAYS/view?usp=drivesdk
I had fun with this project. I went with a very simple design for fear of collapsing the colors. I believe I succeeded in expressing transparency with blue yellow and green. I used a titanium white with cadmium yellow and viridian hue.

I decided to go pretty simple with this assignment because I’m feeling a little overwhelmed lately. I learned a lot from this assignment and I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. I feel like I did a good job mixing the colors and really enjoy the transparency that I feel as if they have.

Not sure about about green over yellow (or vice versa), but the rest in very convincing.

For this one, I did a lot of direct blending for the overlaps, but it looked good and realistic to me. I hope I managed to repeat the pattern in the right way.
The only part is the tip of the “arrowhead” (triple overlap) that is not very strong. The rest is well designed.

This was a bit difficult to pull off. I tried to to a draft on a digital program first before I tried painting this so I could get an idea of what it would look like. Most of the colors I used from the tube, some of them I did mix.
There is space for improvement, especially between second and third circle. )

this piece was surprisingly nice to do! i added my three colors to my palette, then prepped my 3 mixed colors and i think it turned out very nice

someone (me) accidentally did the canceled assignment

I had a hard time understanding this assignment at first but after looking through other’s work and playing around with the Golden Paints color mixer website I think I was able to achieve some level of transparency in my painting. I started by painting the yellow lines and then, after they dried completely, painted the blue lines on top. I then used the paint mixer to figure out what ratio of the two colors I needed to achieve one that would mimic a transparent blue laying over the yellow. I found that a 10:1 of yellow to blue worked best, then I painted that color onto the parts of the lines that overlapped.

This assignment was hard for me to complete successfully. It did not give off the effect or illusion it was supposed to because the lines were not straight because I didn’t have a proper paint brush or ruler.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1JvsfBg302613-FUQoq0N8NAYJjxGPX69 Oops I posted the wrong assignment. I thought the color combinations were successful but I wasn’t completely sure if the pattern was required or if the shapes I created were sufficient for the assignment.
great
