Hi Dawn, we skipped #10. There was an extra week after the second week of Spring break where the course was being re-organized. Hope you’re feeling better soon!

Hey all! For this week’s assignment, I used the last example on the module as inspiration and broke it down to its main design elements. It’s been nice to resume making digital art again. To start, I made the base shape a sharp geometric form and the top shape 4 sided. From there, I did the transparency like the example but changed the colors. The colors have the same relationships on the color wheel as the example did. I figured this out by counting the number of colors in between the example’s colors on the wheel to determine their relationship.

Oh my gosh! Amazing job! I can’t believe how well your project turned out. My project was much simpler. I found this module to be fairly challenging!

I just realized why all my colors look familiar. I layered color correcting makeup pastels over bold lipstick colors to get softer lipstick colors in the transparency areas. Yes, I have blue lipstick too. As long as I can relate it to makeup, I think I’m doing pretty good at this color mixing thing. Artistic cross training pays off, lol

    2. This is by far my favorite because the color transitions seem very smooth. Also I love the circular interpretation instead of the traditional hard edges. Your circles are perfect, I don’t know how you managed that.

  2. I had a hard time with this assignment. My paints were not cooperating and I was a little confused.

Even so, I think I got it? I Created a design with rectangles and triangles overlapping in several places. It was hard trying to get them the right shades without letting the white of the paper show through.

I did have to mix some colors to get my preferred shades but they aren’t all perfect as I ran out and had to make more.

The intensity of the color of overlapped fields on upper circles is much higher than on the lower ones. It takes the harmony of whole composition away. But still a good choice of colors.

I had a hard time understanding this assignment at first but after looking through other’s work and playing around with the Golden Paints color mixer website I think I was able to achieve some level of transparency in my painting. I started by painting the yellow lines and then, after they dried completely, painted the blue lines on top. I then used the paint mixer to figure out what ratio of the two colors I needed to achieve one that would mimic a transparent blue laying over the yellow. I found that a 10:1 of yellow to blue worked best, then I painted that color onto the parts of the lines that overlapped.
